Short Film: 'Hear No Evil'

'Hear No Evil' is a film that follows a day in the life of James, a deaf/mute student who is falling behind at university, and who feels alone in the world as a result of his disability.

A fantastic performance from actor Patrick Roberts, along with cutting edge sound design by Canadian artist Sebastien Hebert (aka. Sleeping On Lotus Ashes), make this film unique in its approach to portray emotion without resorting to dialogue.

The entire film was shot in one day using a Canon EOS 60D. Edited in Final Cut Pro, graded in Apple Color. Visit http://www.joshbedford.com/

911 Staff Will Text Message With Deaf Canadians

CBC - 911 staff will text message with Deaf Canadians.

OTTAWA - Canadians who have hearing or speech problems will soon be able to send text messages to 911 services.

Other Canadians, however, must continue to communicate with 911 services over the phone, says Canada's telecommunications regulator.

By Jan. 24, 2014, all telephone and wireless companies must upgrade their networks to support text messaging communication with Canadians who have hearing and speech impairments. The service may become available before then in areas where the upgrades are completed early.

"Services such as 911 are critical to the health and safety of all Canadians,” said Jean-Pierre Blais, chairman of the Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission in a statement Thursday.

“This initiative is a perfect example of how technology can be used to improve access to 911 services for Canadians with disabilities." ... Read more: http://www.cbc.ca/news/technology/story/2013/01/24/tech-911-texting.html

How To Hypnotize A Deaf Person

Vancouver - Video: How to hypnotize a Deaf person. This is kind of funny, but it's a genuinely effective method used to hypnotise people who are completely Deaf. Turn it up. Anyway it's real and t does actually work.

Just as a count down works with progression, or a relaxation verbal induction takes the person progressively through a process, so does the light electric pulsing of the Csta. It gives a light shock that slows down and gently takes the person into a form of trance. Visit http://www.FreeHypnosisTrainingOnline.com for more information.

Deaf Dart Players Compete for National Title in St. John's

ST. JOHN'S (CBC) - Deaf dart players compete for national title in St. John's

Top dart throwers from all over Canada are in St. John's this weekend for a unique championship.

Competitors are vying for one of the top sporting titles for the nation's Deaf community, the Canadian Deaf Darts Championship.

The salons in the Capitol Hotel are strikingly quiet, yet full of non-stop action and people chatting.

"Darts is a fantastic sport. It's probably the top Deaf sport," said the event's chair, Bryan Johnson, speaking through sign language interpreter, Debbie Newport.

"It's sometimes difficult when you're playing with a mixed league of both Deaf and hearing," he added. "At least this way, there is no barrier, we can just chat freely."

But players have noticed that even in sign language, people from different parts of the country say things a little differently.... Read more: http://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/newfoundland-labrador/story/2012/11/10/nl-deaf-darts-championship-1110.html

The Perfect Storm: Hurricane 'Frankenstorm' Sandy

WASHINGTON - The Perfect Storm: Hurricane 'Frankenstorm' Sandy - As Hurricane Sandy approaches the east coast of the United States and Canada, weather forecasters are wondering if Sandy will be worse than the 'Perfect Storm' of 1991.

According to the Washington Post, Sandy has already claimed the lives of nearly two dozen people in the Caribbean. Nine people were killed in Haiti, 11 in Cuba and 1 in Jamaica. Extensive damage due to flash flooding and mudslides was also reported. Although Sandy is currently listed as category 1 hurricane with maximum sustained winds of 80 MPH, meteorologists are warning that she may hit the northeastern coast of the United States with powerful winds and rains. CNN meteorologist Rob Marciano stated...Read more: http://www.digitaljournal.com/article/335573#ixzz2AR9uTs4B

Perfect storm 2012, which the Hurricane Sandy turns into 'Frankenstorm' deadly to hit the northeast. Here is the exclusive weather report to warn everyone! Brace yourselves for the spooky Halloween storm!

Hurricane 'Frankenstorm' Sandy to Hit the East Next Week.

Video by NewsyHub

An unusual nasty mix of a hurricane and a winter storm that forecasters are now calling 'Frankenstorm' is likely to blast most of the East Coast next week, focusing the worst of its weather mayhem around New York City and New Jersey.

Government forecasters on Thursday upped the odds of a major weather mess, now saying there's a 90 percent chance that the East will get steady gale-force winds, heavy rain, flooding and maybe snow starting Sunday and stretching past Halloween on Wednesday.

Hurricane Sandy seen from Space Frankenstorm forming Snor'eastercane.

Video by pointblankperiods

Meteorologists say it is likely to cause $1 billion in damage.

The storm is a combination of Hurricane Sandy, now in the Caribbean, an early winter storm in the West, and a blast of arctic air from the North. They're predicted to collide and park over the country's most populous coastal corridor and reach as far inland as Ohio.

The hurricane part of the storm is likely to come ashore somewhere in New Jersey on Tuesday morning, said National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration forecaster Jim Cisco. But this is a storm that will affect a far wider area, so people all along the East have to be wary, Cisco said.

Coastal areas from Florida to Maine will feel some effects, mostly from the hurricane part, he said, and the other parts of the storm will reach inland from North_Carolina northward.

Once the hurricane part of the storm hits, "it will get broader. It won't be as intense, but its effects will be spread over a very large area," the National Hurricane Center's chief hurricane specialist, James Franklin, said Thursday.

One of the more messy aspects of the expected storm is that it just won't leave. The worst of it should peak early Tuesday, but it will stretch into midweek, forecasters say. Weather may start clearing in the mid-Atlantic the day after Halloween and Nov. 2 in the Northeast, Cisco said.

"It's almost a weeklong, five-day, six-day event," Cisco said Thursday from NOAA's northern storm forecast center in College Park, Md. "It's going to be a widespread serious storm." With every hour, meteorologists are getting more confident that this storm is going to be bad and they're able to focus their forecasts more.

She silently tells her story through a series of white cards with black marker writing on them.

She describes using webcam chats to meet and talk to new people online as a seventh grade student. She said that people told her she was "stunning, beautiful, perfect" and a man pressured her to flash her chest. One year later, she did... I'm struggling to stay in this world, because everything just touches me so deeply. I'm not doing this for attention. I'm doing this to be an inspiration and to show that I can be strong. I did things to myself to make pain go away, because I'd rather hurt myself then someone else. Haters are haters but please don't hate, although im sure I'll get them. I hope I can show you guys that everyone has a story, and everyones future will be bright one day, you just gotta pull through. I'm still here aren't I ?

"What is it like to be Deaf?"

People have asked me.

How are you Deaf? Deaf?... Oh, hmm... how do I explain that? Simple: I can't hear. No, wait... it is much more than that. It is similar to a goldfish in a bowl, always observing things going on. People talking at all times. It is like a man on his own island Among foreigners. Isolation is no stranger to me. Relatives say hi and bye, but I sit for 5 hours among them. Taking great pleasure at amusing babies, or being amused by TV. Reading books, resting, helping out with food. Natural curiosity perks up. Upon seeing great laughter, crying, anger. Inquiring only to meet with a "Never mind", "Nothing" or "Oh, it's not important". Getting a summarized statement of the whole day. I'm supposed to smile to show my happiness. Little do they know how truly miserable I am. People are in control of language usage, I am at loss and really uncomfortable there. Always feeling like an outsider among the hearing people, even though it was not their intention. They are always assuming that I am part of them by my physical presence, not understanding the importance of communication. Facing the choice between Deaf Event weekend or a family reunion. Facing the choice between the family commitment and Deaf friends. I must make the choices constantly, any wonder why I choose Deaf friends??? I get such great pleasure at the Deaf clubs, before I realize it, it is already 2:00 am, Whereas I anxiously look at the clock every few minutes at the Family Reunion. With Deaf people, I feel so normal, our communication flows back and forth. Catch up with little trivials, our daily life, our frustration in the bigger world, Seeking the mutual understanding, contented smiles and laughter are musical. So magical to me, so attuned to each other's feelings. True happiness is so important. I feel more at home with Deaf people of various color, religion, short or tall. Than I do among my own hearing relatives and you wonder why? Our language is common. We understand each other. Being at loss of control Of the environment that is communication, People panic and retreat to avoid Deaf people like the plague. But Deaf people are still human beings with dreams, desires, and needs To belong, just like everyone else. That's how I am DEAF."

It's TRUE!!!!

Sheriff Attacks Deaf Cancer Patient

Sheriff Attacks Deaf Cancer Patient in Alberta, Canada.

Must-see raw video showing a sheriff’s “unjustified” and “excessive” use of force on a mute, deaf man in a Red Deer courthouse has been released.

On Dec. 9, cancer survivor Bill Berry, 52, was paying a traffic ticket when a sheriff told him he didn’t go through the proper security screening, as he had come in through an exit door.

Berry, who is deaf, mute and breathes through his neck with a tube, tried to signal that he couldn’t hear or speak, at which point the sheriff became more forceful and tried to forcibly carry him out.

Berry collapsed to the ground and his stoma tube fell out.

He was unable to breathe until other sheriffs noticed and reinserted it.

A probe conducted by the Solicitor General Office’s Law Enforcement and Oversight Professional Standards Unit, found the sheriff, identified as Thomas Bounds, was fine to advise Berry of his error but was unlawful in physically confronting him “without hesitation.” ... Trailer: 'Billy Was A Deaf Kid'

A Movie Trailer: 'Billy Was A Deaf Kid' - The classic, I hate your guts, no wait, I like you, my brother is DEAF, let's ride a couch down the street, love story.

Billy is Archie's brother. Archie loves Billy. Billy is DEAF. Archie finds a toy microphone to cure Billy's deafness. Sophie thinks it's stupid. Sophie is Archie's girlfriend. Archie loves Sophie. Sophie isn't quite sure about Archie. Archie, Billy and Sophie find that the world is much more complicated than simple sentences.

Can relationships rely solely on riding couches through automatic carwashes? Is a toy microphone the cure to deafness? And which is worse, getting slapped or getting spit on? WINDSOR, ON. - Joe Bell Jr is my childhood and best friend of 23 years. Growing up with him and his family who are Deaf was always a bowl of cherries and we always had a great time.

We used to workout together before but I stopped a few years ago and he continued as his goal was to be a bodybuilder but he realized the risk of abusing his body with steroids (he never took them) and the amount of working out to be done he started to train MMA in the last 2 years or so after Matt Hamill inspired him.

He also met him as well and said he was a great guy with a big heart. So, he asked me to go to the gym with him to make a video profile for him to gain him some exposure as we all know Youtube is the place to be where dreams can come true.
