Will Online Education Make Us Smarter?

Will Online Education Make Us Smarter? Will Online Education Make Us Smarter? - Predictions are 1/2 of higher Ed will be online in the next 10 years. K-12 will follow by 2019.  How do we assess quality with all of the online education providers that are out there? Small start ups and giant MOOCS. Think a lot about how to get personalized support to individuals. Think about scaling content while not losing the focus on the individual.

Adult learning space, higher Ed, and K-12 all have different needs so they create different markets. All of the panelists are from companies that connect teachers directly to students. InstaEdu - even split between high school and college with about 10% adult learners. Students come at first for immediate need and then wind up staying because they build a relationship with the tutor. Teachers are students at high end universities.
Course Hero - 80% higher Ed students. Building learning content that students can access on their own. Building quality content from students and teachers takers time. Requires feedback from students.

Udemy - 80% male because focuses on tech space. Adult learners adding to skill sets or learning about hobbies. Students like the on demand aspects of the learning. Teachers are industry experts, half of whom have some sort of previous education experience. Motivated by reach they have and ability to share their passion. A few instructors have earned $100,000.

Important to get feedback from students through surveys to assess quality of teaching and content. Make sure reviews are available to future students. Can base revenue sharing on popularity/effectiveness of teacher.

Also important to support course developers/teachers with instructional design training since many may not come from education backgrounds.

Certification: In some cases, must have gone to a particular school (top colleges) and have prior experience in tutoring. See very few problems after getting through the initial screening process for tutors.

How do you know it is working? Re-engagement is huge. If students are willing to pay more for more tutoring, that's a good sign. Comments and reviews from students are also important. Survey students to see if they feel they have improved in their understanding or have gotten other benefits such as job advancement or career change.

What is the motivation for online learners? Often it's increasing a grade or obtaining a certification.

What is on the horizon for building the online learning space? We are still in the early days - 1st or 2nd inning. To get more mainstream: build quality content in multiple languages, bring down costs, provide more certificates/certifications. Mobile devices will help integrate online learning into people's busy lives. Need to watch for over-regulation and under-regulation.

Q From audience: How do you scale giving rich feedback to thousands of students with budget constraints for hiring staff?

A: Peer to peer tutors or peer grading can help. One to one teaching will never be free. It is a tough problem.

Q: Any unexpected gains from online tutoring?

A: Learning is on demand any time you need it. Can take courses in subjects not available locally. Badges make it fun for students to learn beyond basic requirements.

Q: How can online learning help students that traditional schooling fails?

A: More diverse set of teachers to choose from so more chance of connecting. Online learning in conjunction with in person can help support students. Finding niche content that engages students in ways that in-person only schools with more limited offerings can't. Offer practical, job-focused and passion focused content to students.

Q: Are any courses accepted by colleges?

A: Udemy has a few professors who use their online courses as part of blended learning. Not transferable to just any institution though. People are willing to pay for high quality content even without a degree plan.

Q: What about copyright?

A: Instructor is responsible for content copyright. If company receives a DMCA notice they remove the content. Course Hero runs a filter to detect content that might be a copyright violation and works with instructor to verify.

Q: How do you avoid mistakes in growing your company?

A: There will be mistakes. And it takes time to build success. You can't do everything overnight but you can do a lot over a longer period of time.

Q: How do you deal with communication problems from students?

A: Try having visual elements with text. And don't forget in person tutoring might be the best if there are communication/language barriers.

Online Education May Make Top Colleges More Elite

Online Education May Make Top Colleges More EliteOnline Education May Make Top Colleges More Elite - Online education may have arrived at the upper echelons of higher education, but it's not going to make elite colleges any cheaper to attend. Massive open online courses and other online tools, however, may change many aspects of top undergraduate campuses. That was the conclusion of a private summit, held here on Monday and sponsored by the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and Harvard University, at which many of online education's heaviest hitters discussed the future of residential higher education, particularly at elite institutions, in a digital age.
After years of standing by while the online wave gathered momentum at lower-tier institutions, MIT and Harvard last year gave online education a $60-million bear hug by collaborating to found edX, a nonprofit MOOC provider that could also serve as a laboratory for studying the dynamics of virtual classrooms.
The universities made it clear then that they intended to use their MOOCs to improve, not supplant, traditional courses.

Monday's daylong conference, which was largely off the record except when permission was granted, featured many of the voices commonly associated with the current upheaval in higher education. They included Clayton M. Christensen, the Harvard Business School professor, who gave a crash course in his influential theory of "disruptive innovation"; and Salman Khan, the founder of Khan Academy, an online-lecture repository, who appeared, Oz-like, as a 12-foot-tall talking head projected on the wall above the stage.

Online tools that track how much students use certain course materials could give professors insight into how they should design their traditional courses, several panelists said. Professors might be surprised by what the data tell them. Eric Mazur, a professor of physics at Harvard, drew murmurs from the crowd—which mostly consisted of Harvard and MIT faculty members—when he showed research indicating that students at a lecture have brain activity roughly equivalent to when they watch television.

Eric S. Rabkin, a professor of English at the University of Michigan at Ann Arbor, suggested that professors could direct students to learn the most basic material in a course at their own pace, via online modules. Professors could then use the time saved, he said, on the parts of the course that require more thoughtful, individual attention, such as giving feedback on long essays. "Maybe we could have 100 people register for a seminar," Mr. Rabkin said. The students could work through the first 12 weeks independently and online, "and that teacher can finish the seminar five different times in the course of a 15-week semester, spending the last three weeks with each of those groups of 20."

Getting Their Money's Worth

Some attempts to use MOOCs to improve the experience of traditional students have not panned out. One panelist said early attempts at his university to foster interaction between learners in the traditional and MOOC versions of a course met with resistance from the tuition-paying students, who wanted a distinct experience for their money.

Those students may eventually come around, but the amount they are paying for a traditional college experience probably will not—at least not at top colleges. None of the institutions represented at the summit is likely to use any revenue or savings from the use of online tools to lower tuition, said one provost. No one at the session disagreed.

It's more likely that online tools will be used to increase value at the same price, said another provost. That means more seminars, more project-based courses, and more mentorship opportunities, he said. That is a privileged position. William G. Bowen, the former president of Princeton University who has studied the efficiency of online tools, reminded the audience that they occupied "really rarefied air" in deciding how they might want to use online education.

But professors who are serious about reaching the masses online, he said, will have to think about innovation and design with a broader, more diverse audience in mind. I would humbly suggest that the kinds of assessment and standards and all the rest that I'm sure are appropriate at MIT and Harvard and so forth," Mr. Bowen said, "have very little relevance for the large parts of American higher education, particularly in the state systems, that are under genuine siege."

How The Institutions Of Higher Education (Idea Production and Peer)

How The Institutions Of Higher Education (Idea Production and Peer)
How The Institutions Of Higher Education (Idea Production and Peer) - I'm disappointed by how many mainstream theories are incomplete or uni-dimensional. Admittedly this is how they. But ideas are supposed to combine. Thats the purpose of higher education & the culture of ideas? if not that? then what???

Why does this take place?
1. Tradition and history and doing whats always been done. Institutional bureaucracy.
2. Institutional bureaucracy. What it takes to get published.
How could this change? Changing the nature of peer reviewed work & peer reviewed journals?actually mostly the articles themselves:
1) Systems analysis & analytic thinking
2) Multi-dimensional analysis/Cross disciplinary
3) Integrative analysis
4) Better feedback loops on the initial models (perhaps even semi-transparent?aka on the document itself)
5) Better ranking or filtering of existing models (promote the ones that work & have utilitarian value)
6) Visualization (going beyond just words)
7) Develop systems of systems which are themselves labeled & named systems.

If you boil this list down:
1) Systems (including analysis)
2) Multiple: Perspectives/Modes of Thought/Realms of Thought
3) Visualization
4) Feedback loops & ranking/filtering

(Somewhere between the list of 7 and the list of 4 there is a happy medium)

Its astounding that the most innovative place on the planet should be universities?and that they?ve used basically the same functional model of article for the last 100 years with very few changes. And those changes that are created individually?aren?t scaled.

I don?t think there is any comprehensive analysis of the tropes of articles or the effective practices of articles?..I may be wrong?..in fact very wrong. I kind of hope I am.

How to Turn Higher Education into an Engine of Inequality

How to Turn Higher Education into an Engine of Inequality - Step 1:  Build an enormous and expansive set of opportunities for higher education and tell everyone that a college education is necessary for economic and social security in America-- but refrain from working towards public consensus on providing a free higher education for all.

Step 2: Create the illusion of access with a program of financial aid distribution that isn't backed with a real entitlement program tied to college costs.

Step 3: Do nothing to stem the behavior of bad actors and those who encourage them. Allow colleges and universities to raise prices and engage in rankings wars based on flawed metrics that distort the market.  Fail to require states to maintain their effort to ensuring affordability.  Allow, even encourage, private business to step into the gaps.
How to Turn Higher Education into an Engine of Inequality

Step 4: Allow the value of need-based aid to decline while redirecting aid towards politically popular programs benefitting the non-needy.

Step 5: Refrain from fundamental reforms addressing the core crisis in the system, and instead introduce small modifications aimed at overcoming individual deficits rather than structural problems.

Aims and Philosophy of Education

Aims and Philosophy of EducationAims and Philosophy of Education - Although it is not apt to start an essay on a philosophy with a critical remark, for before learning how to criticize, one should learn the content to be criticized, yet , notwithstanding its great merits and value, it seems necessary to criticize Plato's philosophy of education right at the outset.

Plato's philosophy of education aims at preparing learners for future life. This preparation for the future life is almost rejected by modern educational philosophers like Rousseau and Dewey. But this rejection of the
aim to prepare children for future life does not in any sense divest Plato's thought of its significance even in the 21st century. Heidegger in his essay On Plato's doctrine of truth clearly established the relevance of Plato's thought for the 20th century, and those remarks are well taken even in the 21st century.

Plato's significance lies in giving a clear understanding to educators about the meaning of different concepts that appeared in the discourse on education in the history. These concepts include ideas, reason, goodness, metaphysics, dialectics, sense perception, representation, virtue, art as a medium of instruction, motivation and truth. If one looks closely at these concepts , one can easily find that in any discourse on educational philosophy, these words make more frequent appearances. Plato's philosophy helps us in understanding these terms.

Moreover, traditional education , and age old believes about education have their origin in Plato's philosophy, so it is only through a study of Plato that one can understand these things right at the source.

Plato presented his philosophy of education in his Republic. Like most of his other dialogs , the main interlocutor in Republic is Socrates. In the Republic , the basic theme of inquiry is justice. The basic question around which the dialog revolves is , " what is the meaning of justice." Socrates defines justice through establishing an analogy between society and individual. Just as a society comprises classes, an individual has faculties. According to Socrates, a society has three classes. These are:

1. Rulers or Guardians
2. Warriors
3. Artisans and Workers

Corresponding to these classes individual has three faculties:
1. Intellect corresponding to Ruling Class
2. Feelings corresponding to Warriors
3. Desires and Appetites corresponding to Working or artisan class

Each of the the classes and faculties has its own guiding virtue. So the virtue of intellect is wisdom. An intellect works properly when it is guided by wisdom , and wisdom is to know the ultimate truth , the absolute good. Wisdom means to know what lies beyond the appearance , the metaphysical truth. Thus wisdom is equated to philosophical knowledge.

Moreover, the virtue that the class of rulers or guardians should possess is of wisdom. So, according to Plato it is because of their wisdom , the knowledge of the ultimate reality, that rulers become proper rulers. Wisdoms or philosophical knowledge , termed as Sophia in Greek, is the ability to know the metaphysical causes behind the reality, the truth and knowledge of the God.

In order to express feeling, one needs courage. So the virtue or the goodness of feelings lies in their courageous expression. Therefore, warriors should have courage, for they are responsible for expressing the discontent of society, they have to defend any infringement in the values or geographical boundaries of society. They have to guard the economic interests as well, for a society accumulates wealth and neighbors can covet it. Courage According to Aristotle is a mean between cowardice and rashness. A person who is not able to feel fear is not courageous. Only that person is courageous who feels fear and is naturally inclined to deal with fearful situations.

Homer in his Iliad wrote that cowards and courageous people are differentiated clearly in an ambush. In an ambush a coward sweats and trembles, and feels like fleeing away from the situation. Whereas a courageous person , who is naturally inclined towards dealing with his fears, feels excitement and remains steadfast.

Artisans or the producers class has to create wealth . However their goodness lies in temperance, self control. They have control their appetites, for if they can't control their appetites than anarchy can result. So the virtue of the working class is temperance. Temperance, according to Aristotle , is a mean between licentious attitude and insensitivity towards pleasures. So masses should neither be licentious nor insensitive towards pleasure, but in between these two states.

So , according to Plato a society maintains justice if its classes are virtuous according to their class specific needs, warriors are courageous, Rulers are wise and masses have temperance . If these classes act in complete harmony with each other and in each class members have the class specific virtue, then the society will become a just society.

Now the question is , how one can ensure that each class has its virtue? How this can be ensured that rulers are wise, warriors are courageous and masses have self control? Plato suggests that this can be ensure through education alone.

So Plato recommends an education system which is uniform and which pursues the general aims of the society itself. The aim of the society is to maintain both justice and peace.

Plato has designed his educational plan for the education of guardians or rulers. Thus his basic question is how to educate a person in the earlier part of his life to enable him to become a philosopher, a lover of wisdom and truth in the later years. How a person becomes a philosopher? Plato says that through the knowledge of absolute good, or the metaphysical truths , one becomes a philosopher. So the aim of education in Plato is to enable the learners to know the metaphysical truth. Thus metaphysics is the aim of education and learning .

Now the question is what is metaphysics? Plato has answered this question in his famous allegory of cave . Metaphysics , initially means to know the causes of the things present in this world ; causes that are behind the appearances. For Plato these are ideas, intelligible forms that allow things to appear as they are, things on the other hand , in their existence, are only imperfect copies to these eternal forms or ideas.

The highest idea or the highest form is the absolute good , or God for Plato. True knowledge lies in knowing  this cause of the causes, the absolute truth. Plato in his allegory of cave explained the absolute truth or the cause behind everything through the simile of the Sun.

Plato actually used the metaphor of vision and light to explain metaphysics and the reality. Things are there and eye is also there , but if there is no light , eye can't see anything. So, light is the precondition for vision, without light no vision is possible.

The greatest source of light is the Sun, it is because of the bounty of the sun light that everything is visible; without sunlight no vision is possible. Similarly , the reality of the things present in the world is not in them , in concrete things, but in the ideas of which these things are mere copies. However, ideas and form cannot be perceived by senses, these can only be intellectualized; ideas are intelligible and not perceptible.

But these ideas cannot be understood until the great enabler, the truth of the truth , the God does not allow the mind to understand these objects. So ideas can only be understood with the help of divine light. And the absolute good , the great enabler is also knowable; one can know the God.

Thus, the aim of education is to enable a person to acquire the knowledge of this cause of the causes, the absolute good. Education prepares a man for the vision of absolute reality. And that is why, education right from the beginning is a preparation for the future.

Some of The Most Common Myths of Online Education

Some of The Most Common Myths of EducationSome of The Most Common Myths of Education - Despite profound popularity, the concept of online education has not been able to gain complete acceptance. This is because of the myths regarding the concept education

Some of the most common myths of education are:

  • courses are identical: It is generally assumed that the content and the results of all online courses is the same but this is not true. While some courses deliver only the crest of a particular concept, others provide an in-depth knowledge about the course. Some recognized courses offer a lot of dynamism and versatility.
  • It doesn't require faculty: It is sometimes believed that online education will reduce the need for faculty and qualified instructors. But, this is not the truth. It has been observed that the greatest reason for a student's success is a motivating instructor. In an online class, the size of the class might be small or large, but there always faculty members to support all the students. Qualified faculty is also required for writing and creating new courses.
  • Online courses are less worthy: Many a times it is believed that courses don't hold the same worth in the eyes of the employers as a regular course. But this is not so. The correct blend of online and offline education and appropriate professional experience can do wonders to your career.
  • You have to be tech savvy: Many people think that an e-learning class requires one to be highly tech-savvy and requires you to possess high level of technical know-how. But in reality, online courses are designed in a very user friendly manner. They are especially designed to cater to the needs of the common man.
It takes lesser efforts: People believe that online learning takes less time and is an easy way to take a degree. If you are taking up an online course just because you want to take a short cut in your career, then online education isn't certainly the right option.

These are the most common myths that are associated with online learning. Students are sometimes skeptical about adopting online education because of these myths. There is a need to realize that online education is much more than what it is thought to be. It isn't a shortcut route but a catalytic factor which will help you to enhance your career.
One such measure to promote online mode of education has been taken by EduKart. EduKart provides certificate courses in Digital Marketing certified courses, Retail Management (certified by RAI), Financial Management (Wealth Management certified by AIWMI), Programming Language (certified by CSI), Project management and in Skill Development. It also provides some UGC-DEC-AICTE UG and PG degree courses like BBA, B.Sc.IT, MBA and M.Sc. IT.

Is superintendent Vitti ignoring student accountability?

Is superintendent Vitti ignoring student accountability? Is superintendent Vitti ignoring student accountability? - Let me first say I have been impressed so far with Superintendent Vitti. He has tackled testing, the learning schedule and bullies masquerading as principals and district staff. And where those issues are far from resolved he does have us after years of heading in the wrong direction, now heading in the right direction.

There however is one serious issue that he has yet to address, at least publically anyways and that is student accountability or specifically the lack thereof.

Students are still allowed to take grade recovery, formerly reserved for the truly deserving, for any reason.
Don’t come, make an effort or act up when you do? Hey it doesn’t matter because we will give you another bite of the apple through grade recovery. Superintendent Vitti should end grade recovery except for the truly deserving, kids who came to class and tried but just need a little more or kids who have verifiable and excused absences.

Even worse is teachers are still being told to watch their Ds and Fs. If teachers are cajoled into passing kids that don’t deserve it then what we have taught them a work ethic doesn’t matter. Well friends if they don’t learn this lesson at school many will never learn it and quite frankly that may be the most lesson many need the most. Superintendent Vitti should say no longer will teachers be told what grades to give and instead students should get the grades they deserve.

Finally discipline. Too many teachers still report the inmates are running the asylum as there are far too few consequences and remember for a consequence to be effective it has to be meaningful, for students who choose to act up. Like a work ethic many kids need to learn discipline at school because they don’t receive anything approaching it at home. Superintendent Vitti should immediately hold meetings with staff to develop meaningful consequences for maladaptive behavior and then implement those measures.

How can we in good conscious expect teachers to be accountable when we don’t hold far too many students accountable for their school work and behavior? If we truly want to reach our potential as a district then student accountability must be addressed and done so quickly.

He should do all those things if he wants to take us to the next level because doing less won’t do it.

Detail Overview Princeton University 2013

Detail Overview Princeton University 2013Detail Overview Princeton University 2013 - Chartered in 1746 as the College of New Jersey — the name by which it was known for 150 years — Princeton University was British North America’s fourth college. Located in Elizabeth for one year and then in Newark for nine, the College of New Jersey moved to Princeton in 1756. It was housed in Nassau Hall, which was newly built on land donated by Nathaniel FitzRandolph (see A Princeton Timeline). Nassau Hall contained the entire College for nearly half a century. In 1896, when expanded program offerings brought the College university status, the College of New Jersey was officially renamed Princeton University in honor of its host community of Princeton. Four years later, in 1900, the Graduate School was established.

Fully coeducational since 1969, Princeton for the past academic year (2011-12) enrolled 7,757 students — 5,173 undergraduates (730 of whom are New Jersey residents, representing almost every county in the state) and 2,584 graduate students (degree candidates only). The ratio of undergraduate students to faculty members (in full-time equivalents) is 6 to 1.

The University provides its students with academic, extracurricular and other resources — in a residential community committed to diversity in its student body, faculty and staff — that prepare them for positions of leadership and lives of service in many fields of human endeavor.

Living up to its unofficial motto, “In the Nation’s Service and in the Service of All Nations,” Princeton University has educated thousands of individuals who have dedicated their lives to public service, including two U.S. presidents (Woodrow Wilson and James Madison); hundreds of U.S. and state legislators (the House of Representatives, for example, has housed a Princeton alumnus every year since it first met in 1789); and 44 governors, including 11 New Jersey governors.

Each year, more than 2,500 members of the student body, faculty, staff and local alumni volunteer in community service projects throughout the region. Reflecting this public service spirit, the University as an institution supports many service initiatives (see Service and Outreach). Princeton’s Office of Sustainability helps ensure progress in areas where the University has been a leader, such as energy conservation (see Sustainability).

As a research university, Princeton seeks to achieve the highest levels of distinction in the discovery and transmission of knowledge and understanding. At the same time, Princeton is distinctive among research universities in its commitment to undergraduate teaching. Interdisciplinary work is vital to Princeton and is reflected in a full spectrum of academic programs, including such initiatives as the Lewis Center for the Arts, the Center for African American Studies and the Princeton Neuroscience Institute.

Princeton’s main campus in Princeton Borough and Princeton Township consists of approximately 9 million square feet of space in more than 180 buildings on 500 acres. Including Springdale Golf Course, Lake Carnegie and roads for which the University owns the right-of-way, Princeton owns 759 acres in the township and has 214 acres in the borough.

The University, with approximately 5,974 benefits-eligible employees, is one of the region’s largest private employers. It plays a major role in the educational, cultural and economic life of the area by bringing 784,000 visitors and approximately $2 billion in economic activity to the region.

How Important Computer Programming Education

How Important Computer Programming EducationHow Important Computer Programming Education - Only 2% of students study computer programming. If we triple that, we'd close the gap between students and jobs.
Sixth graders enjoyed programming and making the turtle move on screen during IGNITE's programming class at South Shore K-8 School.
We all know the U.S. is falling behind China and India in math and science, and we worry whether this will hurt our future. But the hundreds of millions of dollars spent on fixing this problem ignore the fastest-growing sector of innovation and job growth: computer science.

In 41 states, computer science doesn't even count toward high school graduation requirements. Although programming jobs are growing at double the pace of other jobs, computer programming is declining in our
education system. This is a skill that can be taught as early as fifth grade, yet it's not even offered in 90% of U.S. schools. Why isn't today's curriculum preparing our students for the 21st century?

Job readiness

President Obama said in his State of the Union Address, "To grow our middle class, our citizens must have access to the education and training that today's jobs require."

The first step in solving a problem is to recognize it needs to be solved. Today, only 2% of students study computer programming. If we triple that to 6%, we'd close the gap between students and jobs, driving $500 billion in economic value to our country. This is a giant opportunity, impacting every industry (67% of these jobs are outside the tech sector).

Starting today, dozens of leaders from all walks of life will say in a united voice that more students need to learn computer programming.

The list includes business leaders such as Bill Gates, Mark Zuckerberg, Sheryl Sandberg and Richard Branson; politicians such as Al Gore and New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg; educators such as the presidents or deans of Stanford, Harvard, University of Washington, and the superintendent of Los Angeles Unified Schools; celebrities such as Bono, Ashton Kutcher and will.i.am; athletes such as Chris Bosh; and even leading scientists, doctors and astronauts.

Consider the words of Larry Corey, president of the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center: "Knowledge of computer programming is almost as important as knowledge of anatomy when it comes to medical research or clinical care."

These leaders endorse an idea — that whether you want to become a doctor, an astronaut, or a rock star, you should learn basic computer programming. Children who learn to code learn creative empowerment and an ability to break down problems. It provides an indispensable foundation for the 21st century.

Anyone can learn

Most adults can't wrap their heads around this because most of us never learned this stuff, either. We're scared of it. We think it's only for geniuses (typically portrayed as nerdy white boys) sitting in a dark basement coding all night. Most moms don't know that 10-year-old girls are learning to code in low-income public schools, but only in a few states. Most dads don't know that an 8-year-old can learn to code via educational games on the iPad,iPhone or xBox. And most accountants, doctors and bankers don't know that when they enter a formula into a spreadsheet, they're writing a computer program.

A motivated student who knows basic algebra needs only a few weeks to learn how to build a smartphone app or game — and could even earn her allowance from it. But the vast majority of us have absolutely no idea how to do this ourselves nor how to expose our kids to it.

To remove this shroud, today Code.org has released a short film, starring Gates, Zuckerberg, will.i.am, Bosh, and the founders of Twitter, Dropbox, Zappos, and others, to motivate students to learn to code. The short film is directed by Lesley Chilcott, producer for An Inconvenient Truth and Waiting for 'Superman.' The message of the film is simple: Coding is easier than you might think and more fun than you might think. It can change your life and help you change the world. Check it out at www.Code.org.

If you want to help solve this problem, share this film with your children, your colleagues and your friends. Surveys show that most students who watch this film are inspired to learn. We can help our nation's children find free courses on the Web, free iPad apps and nearby summer camps and after-school programs that teach this essential skill. But first, we need them to know that it's important to their future. That's where you can help.
