Deafndumb.com statement on Michael Hubbs of short track speed skater... Meh, meh, meh, haven't you heard? Before getting ahead of myself here... hasn't anybody gotten the opportunity to see just what Michael Hubbs had vlog'ged in terms to owing up to the community of his supposed-ly, 'back-then' ways of bigotry?
Having once to unbearably witness him, personally, myself the behavior of his own actions pertaining to the superficial negation made against one another, incompetently based on one's own sense of privileges, as sensed by the function of one's occipital lobes and of such granted arrogance. Akin to the skin color, to the person's sex, and to the weight of a person, were more often so the very accusations I had held against Hubbs -IST behaviors.
Often seen prevalently and publicly made on campus, with this blogger account, I inwardly cringe to myself while taking the time to document all things that I had thought he did was wrong, essentially empowering back the community to who I feared were donating their hard earned money... or welfare-ishly given, to Michael Hubbs own narcissistic desires.
Sure. I felt bad. Some called me out on the crab-theory conduct-ee theory where as I could be jealous of his ice-skating way (which by the way is a sport for those who failed on track... I figured, that perhaps ice-skating has the lesser amount of athletes who has the advantage of attaining to an ice rink in colder climates... but nevermind me and my ego-manicidal ways).
Some thought I was much too harsh on this aspiring Olympian-wannabe and should dismiss one of one's past to his ill-ways for the sake of his gold-medal. I never really gave much of a shit, only that I could only but say my piece to which I thought was worthy of speaking out and to call him out on it. ... Michael Hubbs is a speed skater with his sights set on competing in the 2014 Winter Olympics. After overcoming the challenge of being Deaf, he is determined to not let any obstacle get in the way of acheiving his goal.
Selling every item he owned, including his car, Michael paid for a one-way flight to Salt Lake City, UT, so he could train at the Olympic Oval.
In August 2011, Michael participated in the Desert Classic competition at the Utah Olympic Oval with the goal of setting personal best times. In the 500m, he shaved five seconds off his personal best time, and in the 1500m, he shaved 13 seconds off. He then won the overall bronze at the Eastern States Championship in September, and first place in the 500m at the American Cup that following month. LOS ANGELES (NBC) - Deaf football players use secret weapon. 19 players and the coach on this small football team have brought grit and motivation to the field, using color coded signs and their own language to communicate.
They were an undermanned high school football team from Fremont, California. Only 19 players from a small school, and they're under sized, not one player even 200 pounds, which made their run to a 10-2 record and elite championship something special. But the CSD Eagles overcame an even bigger obstacle on the way to friday night glory because CSD stands for California School for the Deaf. That's right. Every player and coach Warren Keller, too, is Deaf. NBC’s Mike Taibbi reports from Fremont, California.
TRANSCRIPT:
Finally tonight an example from the fields of play about how to get past seemingly insurmountable challenges and about the rewards that follow when you pull it off. NBC's Mike Taibbi has the story tonight from Los Angeles.
Reporter: They were an undermanned high school football team from Fremont, California.
We want to prepare the kids the best we can for the rest of their lives. get them, no matter what happens on the field and how much we push them we want to prepare them for their real life.
Reporter: small but quick, the eagles were pushed to practice fast and play that way. the hurry-up offense with each snap within seven seconds of the referee's spot.
We set up fast. we snap the ball fast.
Reporter: and what do you know? it worked. one bigger opponent after another bit the dust. almost all of them public schools. and the eagles turned deafness into an advantage, using sign language and color coded sideline boards to call plays to that athletes who can hear couldn't figure out.
They can talk to each other and they don't have to create a new language where as a matter of fact we might be at a disadvantage.
Reporter: it is tough enough growing up Deaf, but over the space of a dozen football games, these kids proved their metal and their equality to the hearing world and to themselves. motivation?
They think we're nothing, that they can beat us and that we won't beat them and they have a big ego.
Reporter: and reward.
We shocked them and then they realized oh, yeah. Deaf kids can play.
Reporter: for their extraordinary season, " Sports Illustrated" has honored the eagles as one of the country's accomplished underdogs. more important, what these young athletes have already won.
What happened on the football field applies in real life. I'll always remember playing football here. of course I feel like it's going to help me become a better man.
Reporter: a message sent and received loud and clear. Mike Taibbi, NBC News, Los Angeles.
The salons in the Capitol Hotel are strikingly quiet, yet full of non-stop action and people chatting.
"Darts is a fantastic sport. It's probably the top Deaf sport," said the event's chair, Bryan Johnson, speaking through sign language interpreter, Debbie Newport.
"It's sometimes difficult when you're playing with a mixed league of both Deaf and hearing," he added. "At least this way, there is no barrier, we can just chat freely."

DENVER, CO. (KMGH ABC 7 NEWS) - Colorado film, 'Spirit of Love,' highlights Deaf community and life of NBA star, Mike Glenn. 'Spirit of Love: The Mike "Stinger" Glenn Story' takes basketball legend's story to big screen. The film will be presented with sign-language and captioning for all audiences. Anne Trujillo reports.
The recreation center in the heart of Denver's Swansea-Eylria neighborhood is busy for the fourth day of filming.
"Action! Rolling camera A," yells a young woman wearing headphones.
There are teens everywhere. Some are operating cameras and computers. Some are making their film debuts as young actors. There's even a retired NBA player in the mix.
All are under the careful direction of Colorado film producer Darla Rae.
"Make sure you keep your energy up. I need to feel the excitement in your voices," said Rae to the group of boys practicing their lines standing next to retired NBA player, Mike "Stinger" Glenn.
For nearly two weeks various locations in Denver have been transformed into scenes to replicate rural Georgia and locations where Glenn grew up.
"It's a feature film based on the story of how I established the nation's first basketball camp for the Deaf and hard of hearing," said Glenn.
Rae argues it's that and so much more. She says the film is named "Spirit of Love" after an award with the same name that Glenn received from the NBA Players Association honoring him for the positive impact he's had on Deaf communities across the country.

Joey Bell Jr: The next Deaf UFC fighter? Fighter's video profile in American Sign Language 'Being Tough Is Not Enough'.
WINDSOR, ON. - Joe Bell Jr is my childhood and best friend of 23 years. Growing up with him and his family who are Deaf was always a bowl of cherries and we always had a great time.
We used to workout together before but I stopped a few years ago and he continued as his goal was to be a bodybuilder but he realized the risk of abusing his body with steroids (he never took them) and the amount of working out to be done he started to train MMA in the last 2 years or so after Matt Hamill inspired him.
He also met him as well and said he was a great guy with a big heart. So, he asked me to go to the gym with him to make a video profile for him to gain him some exposure as we all know Youtube is the place to be where dreams can come true.
I am also promoting Mady's Karate school as it was only fair as Albert allowed me to video Joe and his gym so if you are from the Windsor area and are interested in MMA, judo, karate you name it, Mady's is definitely the place to go. After all he was the 1st Canadian to be inducted into the Karate Hall of Fame. Sources by Scott Kerr.
Thanks for watching the video and hope you enjoyed it as well as I enjoyed shooting and editing it.
